Tennessee School Unblocks The Gays

A few months back a Tennessee school district came under fire because its internet filter blocked certain pro-gay websites. They fixed the issue after the ALCU filed a suit against them. Keila Franks, a student at some Tennessee school, first noticed the issue when she was searching for information on the Human Rights Campaign website. Kelia wanted the problem fixed because she wouldn’t be able to get information on how to run a Gay Straight Alliance .

Everything may be all well and good in Tennesse, but my school still has a “nazisctic” filtering system. Yes I can go to pro-gay websites, but they block SPARKNOTES. Really! Really? Sparknotes. So now all my high school carrier I had to go to some second rate note site like PinkMonkey.com. Do you see that websites design? Its a horrid 1.0 mess of links and text. Oh lets not forget they blocked Imdb too for no apparent reason.

Wait hold on a second. Some Tennessee school has a GSA and my school doesn’t. Don’t states of that Latitude like cringe at every Limp Wrist? Thank goodness this teen angst ridden Odessy known as high school is in its final act.

The Dancing Man

As I’m writing this post the following video hasn’t gone totally viral yet, but by the time you read this post it will be plastered on every other blog.

A single shirtless soul was in a dancing trance as Santagold was preforming Unstoppable. Something about that person and his  movement’s cause a euphoria among the sitting observers. Then slowly, but surely it happened. All types of people came a running to join the expanding frenzy. Fat ones, Skinny ones, slow ones, shirtless ones. Joining together, as one, for one dancing mass. All because of one. That is the story of the dancing man.

What it is like to be gay in Bergen County

So I  did this phone interview with this one young lady who goes to Ramapo College. I discussed what it is like to be gay in high school.

Here are the parts were I am featured. Its a small summary of what is going on in my area GLBT wise. If your too lazy to read those three paragraphs bellow here is the gist. Pretty much. Highschool is, “whatever nothing much going on” while College will be a grand old time.

At Ramapo High School senior Eric Thor, 17, feels the absence of a GSA.

“In my school I’m kind of reserved and I don’t really have myself fully open, but being in a group of people who are also LGBT is really a relief and it’s nice to be with people who don’t care about your sexuality whatsoever,” said Thor. “It would be nice to have a GSA, but I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon.”

Thor cites “lack of interest” as the reason his school doesn’t have a GSA. However, Thor is active in the LGBT community, attending a march for gay marriage in Montclair hosted by Garden State Equality, and looking forward to being a part of the GSA at Rutgers University where he will go next year.

“I don’t have many gay friends that I can relate to about gay relationship issues and stuff like that, it will be nice to be in college and to be around more people that are like me instead of people who are close minded or don’t know what I’m going through,” said Thor.

M83 We Own the Sky

The French electronic group, M83, called upon its fan base to produce a music video for their single. We Own the Sky

I love the coloring and the whole motion of the video especially in the fist few scenes. Though the video is screaming indie. The people depicted are dressed in indie typical clothes doing over the top indie things. Yet still the music video works despite the mass amount of “indieness”. What I got from it visually was that we shouldn’t be afraid of new things and that we should tackle them head on rather than fearing them. It is inspiring in a way makes me want a nice camera and a field to lay in.

Vimeo feeds our desire for quality content.

I’ve been busy and then I haven’t been busy either. I’ve been lumbering through online content and have come to love Vimeo. An analogy to that illustrates what it is.

Photobucket is to Youtube as Flickr is to Vimeo. Not sure if you understood that, but if you did then you understand that this sites content is riddle with creativity. In other words fan videos on Vimeo do not consist of people lipsycing into webcameras. So if you are looking for inspiration then mozey on down to Vimeo.

Here is this one Animal Collective fan production that was really pretty.
