Dangerous Muse 2009 Preview

I have loved Dangerous Muse for the past couple of years and have waiting very patiently for their upcoming album. That stopped after this video. I want that album now! I actually first found out about this video via their super awesome mailing list which was niffty.

The following is a preview for their upcoming album/music. Pretty hot and I love the grizzly synths  in there mixed with some smooth vocals. Yes there is the whole aspect of “Oh goodness hot guy the music thus is  good!”, but I genuinely loved the tunes they put out, and I can’t wait to see what they put out this year as well.

The Times of Harvey Milk Doc on Youtube

I know I already mention that this Emmy winning documentary and how it is also available on Hulu, but I think this essential tale is worth another mention. Its now available for viewing in full on youtube for free. It is a bit of an old flick, but it is totally worth the hour. If you were a fan of Milk then this is a must see.

I’ll embed the video, but your better off viewing it on youtube.

I totaly love all these movies and televison shows  being put on Youtube, personaly i’ve watched the entire season of Gundam 00 and  those old Yu-gi-oh epsiodes. I know i’m a total Weeaboo

PFLAG Scholarship Essay

So today I checked my email and found out that I didn’t win one of the 16 PFLAG Scholarships(I think not sure email was kind of vague/generic). Stinks that I didn’t get the money, but creating this essay was very beneficial in itself. Organizing all my thoughts gave me a better look into myself as a person in this world, and how I have meaning even though I often feel detached from it. Its kind of egocentric, but still I think we all strive to find a purpose in life and some sort of way to “fit in”.
Its not the most amazing one page essay out there, but to my mom it was. To bad she wasn’t on the scholarship committee.

The Virtual Impact

I’ve never been a conventional person. I usually find myself paving my own road in life, which leads me towards the same goals of everyone else. I just get to that place in a different way. I’m blessed to be born in New Jersey, a progressive state, but yet I find myself in a partially conservative area. My school does not have a Gay Straight Alliance. Sure, there are enough GLBT people to start it up, but sadly they reside deep down inside of a closet that I can’t break them out.

So like any other teenager I looked towards the Internet for salvation. Many people saw the Internet as some sort of crude virtual world where teenagers waste time talking on Myspace in their strange instant messaging language. I, on the other hand, happened to see a great amount of potential in Youtube. I had my life to share, a camera and an endless well of opinions to blabber on about. So I did just that. I went about producing video blogs in which I detail my personal experiences with being gay, political satire, and my views on gay current events. I envisioned Youtube and the internet in general as a great tool because it can reach the hidden community that is caged inside conservative America.

Two years later and those silly little videos of mine have been viewed by thousands, and have reached the deepest darkest corners of America. It was very unexpected that me chitchatting in front of camera for seven minutes could be worth anyone’s attention. Though the most important thing about my videos are not how many times they have been viewed, but the major impact they had on certain individuals. Each day I’m flooded with messages from hundreds of different LGBT pouring out how much these videos have meant to them. These simple little videos brought a smile to a teenager who tried to commit suicide, they encouraged a student to start a GSA, and they have given me, and thousands of others a sense of being a tad bit closer.

When detailing my life I cannot forget how accepting my mom has been. She accepted me being gay, she approved of my first boyfriend, she tolerated my videos and she helped me find out about other local gay groups. She helped me get involved in the QCC(ww.queercafe.org) and really supported me as I struggled with the typical backlash from my peers regarding me being gay. I have been blessed with a mom, a great life, and a camera of course, but not everyone is. I think the best way for me to be thankful for the things I have is to use them to their fullest. That is one of the many mottos that has shaped my life to this day and to come.

Miss. California Parody

Alright its a decent parody of the whole Miss. California thing. I only broke out laughing during the South African and hand sanitizer part, but the rest of lines were pretty witty too. Anyway I kind of might do a video rant about Miss. California, but I think this whole debate is well over with, and shes not a homophobe shes just stupid. It has entered the well done parody stage and has way passed the random rant on webcam phase.

Rush Holt Common Sense and Hate Crimes

I felt proud to be from New Jersey today. I know we don’t have too much going for us with all that waste on the turnpike and all, but Rush Holt, a representative from New Jersey plain simple stance on hate crimes filled me with Garden State Pride.

This is no more about criminalizing thought than the anti-lynching laws were about criminalizing knot-tying.

Cutting through the abstract political BS is something I really admire in politicians. He also gave a shout out to Garden State Equality the leading gay rights group in New Jersey  which I once did a march for so ya. Sweet deal you can really tell that this guy knows his stuff.

Going to Rutgers

So college decision time has come and I have decided to enroll in Rutgers. I was kind of caught up between Rutgers and Pace, but after reviewing the academics of the two schools Rutgers was the clear winner. Yes, it would have been totally awesome to live in New York City, but I have the rest of my life to live their and it is only a train ride away from Rutgers.

There is a lot of Gay Stuff going on at Rutgers. Apparently there is a gay frat, a pretty active gay club, and their even is gay interest housing. So its looking pretty good in that sector. The communications/journalism department seems pretty nifty. I met the nicest lady that reminded me of a younger Helen Thomas who gave me all these packets about the department and it seems pretty in depth and uptodate with the whole online movement.

So ya that my college thing. Anyone else make a college decision recently?
