I must be really out of the loop because this jem, Janelle Monae hasn’t hit my radar/windsheild until now. Despite being nominated for a grammy and having such an epic music video and zany style she has been wading around in the underground stream for too long. The music video/short film is genius. A good level of ambiguity, a Rachel Maddow prepish style, and an amazing sci-fi concept. The dancing, the movement, the awkwardness and grace, completely in sync. The song has a fresh non-generic feel to it.

Expect her to “succeed”, Expect Perez to blog about her, Expect Hipsters to like her concept, Expect her to “succeed”.

I like her clothes, I like her dancing, I liker her video, I like her hair, I like her style, I like her, I like her song too. Rearrange that anyway you want. It  still creates the same product.
