“Casting Out A Homosexual Demon”

I’m still trying to make sense of the following video featuring an exorcism of a “homosexual demon”. It is very disturbing, but pretty humorous at the same time. While watching the video I was really getting into analyzing the dynamic of the participating group. It seems as if the man in all black and the lady in the yellow shirt are the ones leading it. Its hard to tell if they are just improving this whole charade or if they are following some sort exorcism for dummies instruction book. The rest of the people appear as if they don’t know what to do with themselves and are just following along. For example that random guy in the red shirt doing the generic religious gesture of holding up his hands. The person being exorcised is acting crazy because he genuinely believes that they’re ripping a demon out of himself. Because of that belief he is more open to the power of suggestion and in a sense is hypnotized by the whole ordeal. He deludes himself into believing it is real causing all of them demon spasms.

Also I think it is worth noting that this church in located in unassuming Bridgeport Connecticut. Who knew such crazy religious people existed in such a liberal state. Oh and I think when the yellow shirted lady should of worn different shoes when she stepped on the kid. If she were wearing Crocs that gay demon would of hightailed it out of there in seconds. If I did believed in all this demon crap I would of been so freaked out when she was yelled at everyone to be quite and to stay still as if the demon was going to pounce on them and somehow make them gay.

Here is a the ending of the exorcism where they have the kid throw up into a bag. I wonder what they did with the satanic gay demon barf. Ebay?

In all seriousness its hard to make a call on this whole exorcism debacle. It may work for the kid in a really twisted way. If he can delude himself into a demonic seizure then he can probably delude himself into believing that he isn’t gay anymore. Though repressing sexual desires is never a really good thing As long as the kid is happy in the end, but I do think people need to reach out to the youth and give them other options that don’t include insane exorcism rituals. Just a thought
